About Our Charity
DIY SOS GH was birth out of the COVID-19 crisis. We saw how many people were falling through the cracks across in UK and across the world. As one of the developing Nations, we decided to opt for Ghana because we know the country very well and understand some of the challenges most people face on a day-to-day basis. We also have professional tradesmen who are willing to commit their time to help improve the lives of others.
During the pandemic, we saw how a sudden adverse change can impact the quality of their life and mental well-being.
In the UK, we rose to the challenge during the pandemic and provided emergency support to struggling families, single parents, older adults, and individuals in financial hardship with tools to equip them overcome hardship and take control of their lives.
As a man who had his early years of development in Ghana, I have always had a passion for setting up a charitable organisation in Ghana to support the needy, build resilience, and support local people with vocational skills but unable to find work to support themselves and their families. Also, I have seen people in desperation and frustration made perilous journeys across oceans and for some in the process at the cost of their lives. Living behind their loved ones. Children having to grow up without their fathers. Mothers weeping for their husbands and children crying because their parents are no more.
We decided to take this work very seriously when a brother saw our charitable work on social media and asked if we could do some work in Ghana to improve the quality of life of the vulnerable, terminally ill, struggling families and people going through financial hardship.
As we discussed this in more detail it became clear to us that many people are struggling with their mental-health and quality of life in Ghana due to factors beyond their control and that bringing together local professional tradesmen and women to provide a FREE DIY will be the start of getting these people back on a journey of full recovery and to taking control of their mental and physical wellbeing.
DIY SOS GH is aimed at providing infrastructure support for the needy and in the process to provide support for local professional tradesmen to have sustainable work to provide for their families.
